Warned that he would be assassinated by his grandson, Acrisio locked up mother and son in a coffer and threw them there to the sea. The current dragged them until the island of Serifos, where they were rescued and there Perseus reached maturity. Polidedes, king of Serifol, fell in love with Donae and fearing that Perseus could interfere in his plans, he sent Perseus in search of the head of Medussa.
