This image was created in November of 2001. The news every night was full of images of women clad head to toe, with only a slit for their eyes to stare out at the harsh world they inhabited. I saw footage of women beaten by the Taliban, denied access to schooling, denied the right to work, being publicly executed for suspicion of committing adultery. It angered and disgusted me.
Woman embodies the Goddess. She gives birth and nurtures her helpless offspring. She is gentle and selfless. Of all human behavior, non so resembles the Buddha's actions as that of mother toward her children. Of all humans, it is woman who can bring peace to Earth.
